The short version
We do not use your email address for marketing, advertising, or selling data. It is used for account sign-up and sign-in through Clerk. The game uses your account to associate your commander profile and saved progress with you.
KARDASHEV is also playable without an account. In that case, your progress stays on your device.
What KARDASHEV stores
When you choose to create an account and use cloud save, KARDASHEV stores the following game information against your account identifier:
- Your callsign (the name you choose for your commander).
- Your save data, including game progress, settings, unlocks, and other gameplay state needed to restore your game.
- A technical account identifier supplied by Clerk so we can connect the profile and save data to the right account.
We do not store your email address in the game’s profile or cloud-save database.
Authentication by Clerk
Account creation, sign-in, and account credentials are handled by Clerk, our authentication provider. Clerk may process account information such as your email address and authentication information to provide its service. Its handling of that information is governed by the Clerk Privacy Policy and related legal notices.
Clerk’s policy is separate from this one. This policy explains how KARDASHEV uses the information it receives or stores for the game: to let you sign in and to retain your profile and save data.
How we use and share game data
We use your profile and save data only to provide the game and its optional cloud-save feature. We do not sell, rent, or use this data for targeted advertising. We do not send promotional email using your Clerk account email address.
We may disclose information if required to comply with law, protect the security of the game or its players, or respond to a valid legal request.
Your choices
You can play without signing in. You can also manage local progress from the game’s Settings screen, including exporting or clearing local save data. For identity and account information that Clerk holds, use the controls and privacy options available through Clerk.

Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its “Last updated” date. Continuing to use KARDASHEV after an update means you accept the revised policy.
